Rijksmuseum: The jaw-dropping museum of the Netherlands

Rijksmuseum Amsterdam

I had been wanting to revisit The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam since its spectacular reopening by Queen Princess Beatrix back in April this year. Last sunday was sunny and hot. To be honest, it wasn’t exactly the perfect day to revisit the Rijksmuseum or any museum for that matter.

The Rijksmuseum is a Dutch national museum dedicated to arts and history, whichΒ took about 10 years of renovation and cost €375 million Euros. Who said that there has been economic crisis in the Netherlands?:-)

Never mind about the economic crisis for the end result is definitely worth much more than the total renovation’s cost. The Rijksmuseum has now become the jaw-dropping museum of the Netherlands. It is super-duper HUGE. It’s not very clear where the main entrance is so, you can get lost very easily.

The building itself is absolutely amazing. More and more art works have also been added to its entire collections. You certainly need at least a full day to actually see and to enjoy the whole collections.

I did’t, though.Β It was too hot and too crowded.

Is the Rijksmuseum worth visiting? Oh, yeah, most definitely. I’ll revisit the Rijksmuseum in the winter. See you there!

If you notice that this particular part is even more crowded than the rest of the museum, it means that you are nearby the most famous work of art. Few steps further, there is a hall of fame where you can see (from distant) The Night Watch by Rembrandt.

And this is The Night Watch by Rembrandt (plus its personal security guy) shot with the Instagram’s 15 seconds video. Enjoy!
