Sunday Afternoon at Kunsthal, Rotterdam

It has been a very long while since I visited Rotterdam. So, I was quite eager to pay a visit to the Kunsthal museum with some friends last sunday. The last sunday, we also considered ourselves very blessed with a friendly spring temperature.

As you have probably known that the Kunsthal is a museum in Rotterdam, which is opened in 1992. The museum is situated in the Rotterdam’s Museumpark next to the Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam. The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is also fairly close by.

The Kunsthal museum has been in the news since October 16th, 2012 due to its stolen famous paintings. The paintings were Monet’s Waterloo Bridge, London and Charing Cross Bridge, London, Picasso’s Tete d’Arlequin, Gauguin’s Femme devant une fenΓͺtre ouverte, Matisse’s La Liseuse en Blanc et Jaune, De Haan’s Autoportrait, and Lucian Freud’s Woman with Eyes Closed.

Thankfully, there were lots of other interesting exhibitions at the Kunsthal for all of us to enjoy and admire. The S.H.O.E.S, Marimekko: Design for a happy life, and The 2nd World War in 100 Objects were amongst those exhibitions that I myself really enjoyed.

We were not allowed to take picture so, it’s the only photo of The 2nd World War in 100 Objects that was exhibited at Kunsthal museum, Rotterdam.

Lots of personal memo’s that were written by children who visited the exhibition of The 2nd World War in 100 Objects at the Kunsthal, Rotterdam. FREEDOM is the message!

I have always loved large spaces with high ceilings. The larger + the higher = the better. Perhaps because they give me a sense of freedom and liberation. My visit to the Kunsthal has also given me the togetherness of life when fashion and freedom actually come together. At least in a single exhibition.

Love to come back to Rotterdam and visit the Kunsthal again in the near future.
