I love paprikas, also known as, bell peppers, thanks to their endless benefits. First off, they are yummy, healthy and colorful. Secondly, they are great for garnishing as well. Naturally, paprikas have lots of skin, hair, health and other benefits that your body can benefit from. And most of all, I love them because they are very easy to grow from seed.
Believe me when I say that you don’t have to be an experienced gardener to be able to grow paprika from seed. And of course, you could buy some “ready-to-grow” paprikas seeds but you could just buy some fresh paprikas, eat the paprikas, and use their seeds to grow.
“Neverย waste thing that you can grow” is my newest life’s motto:-)
And I am glad to inform you that the latter method has turned out to be my favorite one because it is so much easier, convenient and cheaper free. So, let’s go ahead and get started with this simple tutorial on how to grow paprika from seed right from your own kitchen:
What you need:
- 1 medium paprika such as Red Bell Pepper.
- 1 medium pot with a built-in drainage system Fiskars Ariana with Self-Watering Grid.
- Some potting soil Organics Granular Fertilizer for All Plants.
- A pair of garden gloves.
- A garden tool set.
- Some tap water
What you need to do:
- Cut the large (red) paprika in half.
- Separate the seeds from the paprika flesh carefully (use the paprika flesh as you wish).
- Let the seeds dry out for about 5 – 7 days.
- After 5 – 7 days, put the potting soil into the (medium) pot.
- Moisten the potting soil lightly but thoroughly with some water.
- Sow the seeds throughout the potting soil.
- Get some potting soil, loosen them and use them to “cover” the seeds up.
- Water them regularly, but be careful not to overwater.
Please note that you don’t have to have a proper garden, butย you do have to put the pot somewhere in the house where there is enough sunlight. A small balcony like mine would do just fine. Direct sunlight is the key when it comes to growing paprika, or any other plant for that matter, from seed.
Yes, you are finished. So, just sit back, relax and wait until they grow. Growing they will and starting the 3rd day, you shouldย see some tiny leaves that start to emergeย from the surface of the potting soil.
Naturally, you can use this easy method to grow other vegetables, herbs, flowers or other plants. Good luck and let me know what you’re growing and how they’re growing in the comment section below.
